Our Establishment: Mukono Host Lions Club

The Mukono Host Lions Club was formed in June 2020 by the late  LN Yesse Mubangizi. Under LN Jonathan Ntulume’s leadership, the club has grown and achieved various local and global goals aligned with Lions Clubs International. Since its inception, the Mukono Host Lions Club has been dedicated to making a positive impact in the community and beyond through service projects and initiatives. As part of Lions Clubs International, the club is committed to serving humanity and promoting peace. It continues to strive towards making a meaningful contribution to society. In conclusion, the Mukono Host Lions Club, established in June 2020, is a thriving organization committed to serving the community and achieving the objectives set by Lions Clubs International under the inspirational leadership of LN Yesse Mubangizi and LN Jonathan Ntulume.

Dear Fellow Lions,

It is a great honor and privilege to be entrusted with the role of President of the Lions Club of Mukono Host for the term 2025–2026. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing President, Ln. Steven Walangaire, as well as all past leaders and members, for their unwavering service and commitment to our great club. I am truly humbled to have served and learned under their inspiring leadership.

As Lions, we live by our proud motto: “We Serve.” This guiding principle is reflected in our dedication to humanitarian causes, community service, and addressing the pressing needs of our society. Our club continues to make a remarkable impact through a wide range of service projects — including vision screenings, diabetes support, childhood cancer awareness, environmental protection through tree planting, and more.

As we move forward, I call upon each one of you to engage actively in our mission. Participation in the Lions Club offers immense value — from personal growth and leadership development to lasting social connections and meaningful community impact. Together, we can create lasting change and uplift lives in Mukono and beyond.

The Lions Club of Mukono Host was proudly represented at this year’s Naivasha Convention in Kenya, with 13 dedicated members attending and actively participating in all scheduled activities.

The club received special recognition for its exceptional service to the community and was awarded a certificate of appreciation. In addition, several individual members were honored for their outstanding contributions to District 411B.

Notably, Lion Janet Opale was recognized as an Outstanding Zone Leader, while Lion Irene Namukhula was celebrated under the New Voices initiative for her inspiring work.

The club’s participation in the convention was truly outstanding and reflects its commitment to service and excellence.

Vision Camp at Kyaggwe Saza Grounds – 12–13 August 2025

As part of the Buganda Kingdom Health Campaign “Tubele Balamu”, the Lions Club of Mukono Host, in partnership with Herona Hospital Kisoga, organized a two-day free vision camp at Kyaggwe Saza Grounds, Mukono.

The camp aimed to provide free eye care services to the community, including:

  • Eye screening for all ages

  • Free reading glasses for those with presbyopia

  • Eye treatment and provision of medication

  • Booking patients for free cataract surgeries (Small Incision Cataract Surgery)

  • Booking glaucoma patients for trabeculectomy procedures

  • Day 1: 550 patients attended; all received free drugs and readers where needed.

  • Day 2: 350 patients attended; some received drugs and readers.

  • Total: Over 900 people directly benefited from the camp.

  • Surgeries Booked: 30+ patients scheduled for free cataract operations; glaucoma cases booked for trabeculectomy.

District Governor Visits Lions Club of Mukono Host

The District Governor, Ln Tush Naturinda, paid an official visit to the Lions Club of Mukono Host, where she was warmly received by the Club President, Ln MJF Paul Mudduse, together with the entire membership.

As part of the visit, the club organized a series of humanitarian and community service activities. In partnership with Herona Hospital, the Lions facilitated cataract eye surgeries, through which 20 members of the community received free treatment and medication. The exercise also included tree planting within the hospital premises.

In addition, the club extended its service to the Salama School for the Blind in Mukono, where a donation of assorted essential items—including rice, posho, sugar, and sanitary supplies—was made to support the learners.

The day’s activities concluded with an official club meeting, presided over by the President, followed by a fellowship session and celebration with members. During this gathering, the District Governor decorated Lions with pins in recognition of their service, while the club in turn presented a donation to the Governor in appreciation of her leadership.

They are also making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with disabilities, including those who are visually or hearing impaired. Their generosity is creating a significant difference, ensuring that both the elderly and students with disabilities receive the support and resources they need.
